Frenkel translation wins JQ-Wingate Prize 2019
I was just thrilled - and moved - to hear that my translation of Françoise Frenkel's "No Place to Lay One's Head" is this year's winner of the JQ-Wingate Literary Prize, chosen from a field of such talented authors and translators.
I am very grateful for having been given the opportunity to translate this poignant story which still feels so resonant. I am particularly grateful to my publishers, Meredith Curnow at Vintage, PRH here in Australia, and to Adam Freudenheim of Pushkin Press in the UK, and their colleagues,
