Marie-Hélène Lafon's "Alphonse" in Granta
Feeling extremely privileged to have my translation of Marie-Hélène Lafon's exquisitely wrenching short story, 'Alphonse' appear in Granta literary magazine. Lafon is, in my view, one of the most beautiful writers working in French today. The collection of short stories in which 'Alphonse' first appeared was awarded the Goncourt prize for Short Stories in 2016. You can read it here:
